Can anyone help to identify a solid brass reverser handle from a locomotive?
I have a Solid brass reverser handle marks on it are as follows:EV4412,and on the reverse side it has a mark that looks like a odd shaped H or a capital i,depending which way you look at it,trying o find out how old and what engine it came off of.
The brass ones started being supplanted by the plastic ones somewhere around ‘79 or 80' or so. The end had a larger, usually maroon in color, haft made of hard plastic. Not unbreakable, however. You never see any of these critters any more.
The old EMD and GE reversers didn’t have any markings on them as you describe and I recall and the ones for ALCO and Fairbanks-Morse locomotives were a strange bird at any extent, so I’d not rule them out as a possibility entirely, but for the fact that they weren't brass, rather steel.
