What size table (in diameters) do I need for 10 people to sit comfortable using Charger Plates?
I am making table cloths and need to know the yardage needed
Okay, well an 8 foot diameter table would be about 25 feet in circumference that gives everyone over 2 feet of personal space. Your table cloth would best hang over about 12 inches at least so make it a circle of 10 feet in diameter. Find fabric that comes in 60 inch width (5 feet) so you could make two halves of 60 x 120 inches and turn a tiny hem after you cut it into a circle. 20 feet is 6 and 2/3 yards of fabric per table cloth for an 8 foot diameter table.
If you go with a 6 foot table, you'll have less than 19 feet around so slightly less than 2 feet of space, but manageable. Then your table cloths could hang over more with 60 in width fabric. Or you could cut back on the fabric, use 44-45 inch wide fabric (2 halves again) by 8 feet and use 5 and 1/3 yards per cloth.
Some simple fabric (like muslin) comes in 108 inch widths, but wouldn't be as nice if you're using charger plates.
