Why is a Dinner Plate used under a Casserole Dish in a microwave?
I am just wondering
Once the casserole is heated, it can be very hot and food bubble or spill over sometimes. I put a plate under any bowl or casserole so I can pull the food out without burning myself.
You would still need to be careful because sometimes the bowl or casserole slides around the dinner plate. Possibly you need to use a couple of mitts (depending on the size and weight of your casserole). It's just safer with a plate under.
I am assuming you are not talking about the Tempered Glass plate that is part of the turntable which comes with the microwave.
