Though they cannot be labeled as pans, glassware is often used for cooking; it is both flame and oven proof and it comes for pretty high prices. What can I clean my stove with?
I have a stainless steel oven and I clean the stainless part with stainless steel cleaner, but the top of the stove is black (enamel?) and everything I use leaves streaks and doesnt seem to work as well as I'd like...I used to use spftscrub on my old stove but Im scared to bleach the black surface. Any ideas?
If you have a smooth top stove i.e. glasstop, there are a variety of products on market for that type of stove. I have a smooth top stove with a stainless front oven door. I use a multi surface spray cleaner and a microfiber rag, (paper towels can work too), to keep the stainless streak free, don't leave the surface to air dry, that is what creates those really bad streaks. You have to hand dry it to remove the moisture, thus reducing the streakies. The glass top is trickier to clean, simply because you don't want to scratch it. I use easy off glass top stove cleaner, and a plexi-scraper to get that tough stuff off, then finish it with paper towels or a micro fiber rag. If you don't have a plexi scraper, you can go to your local store in the cleaning aisle and find a "dobi" pad they are these little yellow scrubbing wonders. They are made of a type of plastic, and they wash many surfaces without scratching them, even those baking pans with the black burnt on crud. If you just have an enamel finish on your stove top with the coil burners (or gas burners) you can use the dobi pad with just soap and water, if it is burnt on junk you can use soft scrub, they make some without bleach if you are worried about the color fastness of the surface. Even in the case of color fading, test a spot that is out of sight on the edge of the stove and scrub it with the cleaner to see if the color will fade, make sure to wait for a minute or two to be sure you have given an adequate amount of time for the product to work. I would really just try the dobi scrubbie pad, they don't use lots of harsh chemicals and only cost about $2-$3 and are reuseable.
