Has the tradition of buying fine china and crystal when getting married faded?
Does anyone (except the über-rich) really do this anymore? I'd love to find some stats on whether there's been a drop in buying traditional, useless luxury items in recent years...
I think it depends on where you are in life. I know my fiance and I are not registering at all because we just don't need or want anything at the moment. We are in school and plan on selling all of our stuff when we gradute and moving across the country. What would be the point of getting fine china and crystal for it to sit in a box in a closet while we are in school. If we were more settled or staying in the area, I am sure we would register for those things. I know when we are settled down we will need it to entertain (as we love to do so) but until then, it's impractical and likely to get broken with no where to store it safely.
