Creating Beautiful Western Wedding Cakes
When plans are made for a western wedding, most couples control many of the details, but when it comes to the wedding cake, they may have to settle for what is available at their local Cake Decorating shop. There is another way to insure your western wedding cake is just what your envisioned it to be, and that is create your own design.
Designing beautiful western-wedding-cakes starts with choosing the cake patterns that fit your wedding theme. My western wedding had an outdoor theme. We used wild flowers gathered from our ranch on the cake to continue our outdoor theme. We completed the look with an adorable western themed cake top.
Most experienced cake decorators can use stencils to tool personal likes, hobbies, interests or favorite activities of the bride and groom, into the fondant frosting to create a more personalized western wedding cake that would WOW the guests.
If you have your heart set on making your own theme wedding cake, go for it. A little research will help the creation and the design of your eye catching western wedding cake come together quicker. Cake making books and literature, plus on-line help makes it easy to make your own cake. Specialty shops carry the pans, plates and pillars necessary for cake making. Butter cream frosting recipes are easily obtained on-line and in recipe books and if you are worried about the detailed decorating, get creative and use silk flowers in the place of shell borders and string plastic pearls in scalloped droops around the cake. I even seen a cake with a frosting picket fence wrapped around the cake layers. It was darling and fit in completely to the décor and theme of the wedding. I personally would have added small frosting flowers to give the cake a little additional color.
Western themed pillars that support the cake layers are another element that add to the design and can be used with any other western accessories to enhance the wedding cake appearance.
Miniature straw bales, wheat stalks, dried wild flowers, mini plastic cowboy hats or even lasso rope can be used to enhance the appearance of your cake. And last but not least is the cake top. Searching for the right western wedding top is important because it can enrich the appearance of your wedding cake and at the same time, express the couples own feelings.
