Look back on Carpets

The word carpet comes from the Armenian word karpet, where kar means a stitch or a knot. Also known as rug, a carpet is a woven textile floor cover. There is no definite knowledge about the origin of the carpet. There are indications that as far as 6000 BC, wool were spun and woven. However, most experts say that carpets originated in the Caucasus somewhere between the 3rd and 2nd millennium BC. The early carpets were almost entirely used in Asia and Asia Minor. The first carpets came to Europe around the 17th century.

The most popular end expensive carpets come from Turkey, Persia, Anatolia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. Much later, carpets were produced in Spain, England and France.

Carpets are either woven, needle felt, tufted and knotted. The woven carpets, produced on looms, are the most expensive carpets because of the time taken for their production and the cost of labor. These carpets are more popular among the richest in the world because they require a lot of maintenance. These carpets are almost entirely patterned and a proper room is required to showcase them. Needle felt carpets are produced using machine technology. These are more durable and are ideal for places that attract more footfalls. Hotels are known to use these carpets. The most common carpets around the world are tufted carpets. These are also produced using machines and are prized so as to be affordable for the general class of people. Knotted carpets range from very affordable to very expensive. While machine technology is predominantly used in the making of these carpets, knotted oriental carpets are knotted by hand and are quite costly. Another form of carpets is called embroidered carpets. They are made by making stitches on a piece of cloth. These carpets were very popular in Europe from the 16th to the 19th century. Apart from covering floors, they were also used to prepare coats of arms. Embroidered carpets were also patterned. Sometimes, they told an entire story.

The modern carpets are prepared using a number of products. The earliest basic ingredient was wool. Wool is durable and is available in abundance. Later on, wool was mixed with nylon to produce more durable carpets. Until recently, nylon was used to make relatively cheaper carpets and was then replaced by polypropylene. Polypropylene is cheaper but can not be used to make classic carpets. Polypropylene carpets are mostly used for making domestic carpets. Polyester is a good substitute for polypropylene when it comes to making carpets. Polyester became a good alternative for all the traditional and common items used till then. When the price of ingredients rose in the early 2000s, polyester carpets made it possible for the general public to afford carpets. Another item that is used to make carpets is polytrimethylene terephthalate, which is another polymer. After the carpet is woven, the final act is binding that completes the carpet making process. Cotton is used to bind the edges to make a finished carpet.

Carpets make the most popular floor covering option all over the world and exude a sense of luxury and well being.

How much do I increase the cook time for two boxes of cake mix?

I can't remember how long to cook 2 boxes of cake mix in a 9x13 inch Baking Pan. Metal - Greased (IT'S NOT NON-STICK) FOR ONE box it's 32 - 37 minutes (so I always go in between and just say 35) so how much do I increase it by, if I increase it at all?
