Why is melamine poisoning people when they eat it, yet they sell dishes made of it?
We used Melmac dishes when I was young. They still sell dishes made of melamine today. Melamine is the additive to milk and now chocolates that is making babies sick. Why is it not ok to eat it but it is ok to eat off of it?
You can make plates and bowls and even spoons out of melamine resin. Putting it in food however, creates kidney stones that will lacerate your kidneys and urethra.

"Melamine is a strong organic base with chemical formula C3H6N6, with the IUPAC name 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine. It is primarily used to produce melamine resin, which when combined with formaldehyde produces a very durable thermoset plastic. This plastic is often used in kitchen utensils or plates (often sold under the brand name Melmac), and is the main constituent of Formica® and Arborite®."
