Mortar & Pestle?
Just curious if anyone else in the vegetarian & vegan section use a mortar and pestle?
If so, do you use it on a daily basis? Share any information you have about your mortar and pestle.
I have a wooden one that I've only ever used for grinding rock salt. Well, once I used it to grind flax seeds because I was too lazy to get the grinder down, but that was stupid.
People seem to use them most for grinding seeds and things into spice powders and mixes, and mashing/tearing fresh herbs and leaves. I know some people who use theirs to smash up mint from their garden for fresh herbal tea.
I'd recommend a granite style one if you're interested, I notice alot of TV chefs use them, and a rock M&P would not hold in the smell as would a wooden.
