I am buying my second one and only because I moved cross country and didn't want to take unnecessary things on the move. I used my last one, purchased for only $20 at Wal-Mart, for well over 6 years and it was still going strong when I gave it to a neighbor! I had very early on dropped and broke the lid but it wasn't a problem. I simply used a plastic plate to cover the pot as I stored the oil in the fryer to reuse (but, of course, I would take the plastic plate off when I used the fryer). The fryer does a fantastic job heating up the oil evenly as it's really just a hot pot with a plug-in heating element that you can pull out to wipe clean. It is just big enough but not so big that it takes up too much storage/counter space. The lid (when not broken!) is easy to wash clean and, because it is made of glass, can be used while the fryer is operating and effectively keeps the grease from permeating your kitchen. I never used the basket as I prefer a strainer scoop that one can buy from Asian grocery stores. I've tried other fancy fryers but they all pale in comparison to this simple contraption. Even my Mom agrees that this fryer was the best $20 we ever spent and says it's a neccesary replacement now that I've moved.

I was wanting a good fryer for a while now. I wanted a multi-tasker and not just a fryer. I read alot of the reviews posted on here before buying. Some of the ones with lower star ratings had me conserned but there were far more 4 and 5 stars than anything. I did end up ordering one.
I used it for the first time yesterday and it made the BEST homemade fried chicken strips. I marinated the chicken in buttermilk for about 4 hours and then coated them in a penko crumb mixture with spices and parmasean cheese. The chicken didnt take long to cook and came out crispy and golden. Just keep an eye on whatever you are frying. Once its the golden brown color, take it out. The instruction booklet has frying times for certain foods. The chicken says 13 minutes but I think thats just bone in whole whole pieces. I found that out when I burnt the first few pieces. The strips only took about 3-4 minutes with cooking 5 strips at a time. What I loved is the chicken was not greasy at all.
I was so happy with the way it turned out. It is very easy to clean.
Today I used the cooker to make spegetti sauce with macaroni noodles. It cooked great.
The cooker is bigger than what the picture gives justice for.
Great product and well worth the money.

I've bought a used Hygena Multi Turbo cooker;no manual. Gas hobs,lekky oven. Oven dials baffle me. Help pls?
There are three dials on front; symbols only. L to R: temp to 250, next dial 0-5 with ww symbol, both dials with red light. 3rd dial various incomprehensible symbols, no light. Also the clock; what does the raised hand symbol mean, and how to set the alarm. Does it ring?
