CHRISTOPHER LARRY TRIBBITT v. STATE OF MARYLAND

During the 2003 through 2006 school years, Kylie, the victim, was a student in a physical education class taught by Tribbitt at a Queen Anne's County public middle school. Over this time, Tribbitt and the victim grew close. Tribbitt was a volleyball coach. Over the course of the volleyball season, Tribbitt touched Kylie inappropriately on four or five occasions in the school's locker room and other places.
The trial court found that defendant improperly touched the victim in various incidents. Defendant was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in violation of Md. Code Ann., Crim. Law § 3-602 (2002, 2007 Cum. Supp.). The trial court sentenced defendant to 25 years in prison, with all but 18 months suspended, and five years of supervised probation.
Issue:
- Whether the sexual abuse defined in Md. Code Ann., Crim. Law § 3-602(a)(4), required that, in order to be convicted of a violation of the statute, a defendant's particular acts as found by the trial court must have been otherwise criminal in nature?
The Court held that the definition of "sexual abuse" is not limited to the crimes enumerated by § 3-602(a)(4)(ii). § 3-602(d)(1) provides further evidence that the Legislature did not intend to limit the definition of "sexual abuse" to otherwise criminal conduct. Section 3-602(d)(1) notes that an "act," not a "crime," may establish the basis for violation of the child sex abuse statute. Although it is unnecessary for the disposition of this case to consider legislative history because the plain language of the statute is unambiguous, we note that Tribbitt ignores the legislative history of subsection (d). The proper construction of the statute was that sexual abuse encompassed any act that involved sexual molestation or exploitation of a child. The definition of "sexual abuse" was not limited to the crimes enumerated by Md. Code Ann., Crim. Law § 3-602(a)(4)(ii). Furthermore, Md. Code Ann., Crim. Law § 3-602(d)(1) noted that an act, not a crime, could establish the basis for violation of the child sex abuse statute.
Conclusion:
Hence, this court affirmed the judgment of the intermediate court of appeals.

I need to find a slipcover that will fit a Queen Anne sofa?
I recently got a queen anne sofa its really gorgeous but someones cat had clawed near the arm and I want to get a slipcover for it however, I wasn't sure if I had to get one specifically for a queen anne sofa and I couldn't find any online w/search engines or ebay. thanks!

If you thought only the royal palace in England was worth seeing, you surely are missing out on something magical, the Kensington Palace. The palace is known to ooze remnants of the past and in the beginning the Palace was known to the locals as the famous Nottingham House. At first it was under the then Earl of Nottingham and hence the name in the beginning. But it was in the year 1689 when William III took over the mansion from the then Earl of Nottingham, and refurbished the entire palace. The widening of the private roads was sanctioned by William III and there were royal apartments made for the royal couple, the King and the Queen as well.
It is at the Kensington Palace where Queen Ann used to be for many days during the early 1700's, says a source. Under her there were many apartments that got a facelift and an extension, however, her main forte on renovating the palace was to upkeep the status of the Kensington Palace's gardens, say tourists. There was an orangery made along with other buildings meant for the gardens, while Queen Ann was around at the Kensington Palace.
If you look back in time, it was in 1819 when Queen Victoria was born in the famous Kensington Palace. She lived there until she ascended the throne in the year 1837 and then finally moved to the famous Buckingham Palace, says a source. Even Queen Mary, who is the grandmother of the present Queen of England, was born in the Palace, in 1867, says a source.
In recent times, the Kensington Palace was known to be the home of the worlds favorite Princess, Princess Diana. Sources say the late princess lived at the west wing of the Palace, until her untimely and very shocking death, which happened in 2002. At present the building is inhabited by Prince and Princess Michael of Kent along with the well known Duke and Duchess of Kent and Gloucester as well. They all belong to the royal family and are known to be the queen's cousins. The Kensington Palace also resides workers who work for Her Majesty, the Queen of England. It is also here at the Kensington Palace, where Prince Charles is known to drop by to perform tasks and to supervise the works for the royal administrative needs, says a source.
The Kensington Palace is open to those who would like to come by and pay a visit. If you would like to be one of the visitors, do ensure to attend the "Enchanted Place" which is an exhibition running since last year and would do so till the end of next year, says a source. There are glorious state apartments where leading fashionistas and designers display their spectacular creations. Some say most of the creations would be inspired by the late princess, Diana.
There is a lot that you would get to see and explore at when you step foot inside the Palace. From historically inclined stories to hear, gossips and rumors, to items and architectural wonders within, the Kensington Palace satiates the curious mind. You would also be able to have total enjoyment watching the interactive theatre groups performing and even sit down to watch some film clips of the palace which could be so real and haunting, say tourists who have witnessed it all. They say at the Kensington Palace, each room has her own story and she would love to tell it to you through the exhibitions the palace doles out to the commoners.
