Hi everyone my name is Jason and for the longest time I have wanted to build a rocking horse for my two twin daughters. However without the right plans I never got around to doing it.
A couple of months ago however my wife found a program called Woodworking 4 Home It's a program from expert builder John Metz who provides plans for thousands of different indoor and outdoor furniture pieces.
Including 49 rocking horse plans!
After getting the "subtle" hint from my wife to actually get off the couch and build a rocking horse, I went to work and created (even if I do say so myself) a really cool rocking horse that my daughters and also by nephew love to play on.
Not having much wood work experience I was a little apprehensive at first but with the easy to follow instructions I was away building in no time.

1. I was very impressed with how easy everything was to follow. I had never built anything in my life and thought that building a rocking horse was going to be difficult. The detailed pictures and diagrams were a big help. Whilst I must admit there were challenges at times, the overall build went very smooth. And it was worth it to see the smiles on my kids faces!
2. I also really loved that there was a variety of plans to choose from. John didn't just give me one plan but rather 49 different plans so I could choose the one which I liked the best.
3. There's more than just rocking horses. Ok I admit it, I think I caught the bug. Since I created the rocking horse I have also build a new coffee table and am in the middle of working on a bird-feeder with my older brother. It's just so much fun! Plus the different furniture pieces are appreciated and used a lot.
I wish you the best of luck in creating your own rocking horse. Don't be nervous about the build thinking it will be too difficult but instead get the right plans and dive right in. You will have a fabulous rocking horse up in no time.
