How to Make a Quick and Easy Italian Skillet Dinner
What could be easier than a skillet dinner? I don't know about you but I love have a minimum of clean-up following meals. And one of the best ways to accomplish that is with skillet meals. Try this Italian Skillet Meal soon. Your family will love you for it, especially if it is their jobs to clean up after dinner! With this one skillet you will have a meal that includes the vegetables onion, tomatoes, and spinach. Also dairy in the cheeses and egg. You have pasta with the tortellini, healthy olive oil and spices. That's a lot of nutrition in one skillet. The other benefit is time. This dinner is table ready in thirty minutes. Serve with some garlic bread and fresh fruit to round out your meal.
ITALIAN SKILLET DINNER
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp garlic salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 can (15-oz) crushed tomatoes
1 cup hot water
1 pkg (9-oz) refrigerated cheese tortellini
1 carton (15-oz) lowfat ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pkg (10-oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed dry
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
In a large skillet, cook onion, basil, oregano, and garlic salt in oil for two minutes. Add the tomatoes and hot water; bring to a boil. Add tortellini; cover and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir together the ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese. Drop spoonfuls of spinach and then ricotta mixture over the pasta. Top with mozzarella. Cover; cook 10 minutes longer or until the ricotta mixture is set. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

can i make this on a skillet/cooking plate type thing?
can i make some kind of brownie on a skillet thing? its only about enough brownie mix for 3 people, and my stove doesnt work. can i do this? some kind of brownie pancake thing?
You know, back in the day (like the 100 years ago day) people used to cook over stove-top type heat all the time!
I'm sure it would work. Just keep a couple of things in mind:
1) make sure you use a heavy-gauge pan, like an Iron Skillet if you have one.
2) make sure it is well-oiled
3) use a cover for the pan and keep the heat low and constant. You don't want the outside to burn while the inside is still jiggly.
Good luck! At the very least, you'll make a tasty mess. But I bet it will turn out fine!

Don't settle for soggy tortillas from the microwave. You can properly heat up tortillas in a couple of ways. The first is to preheat your oven to 350 degrees and put the tortilla directly on the rack until it is the desired crispness. Another way is to use your gas stove top, placing the tortilla directly on the grill above the flame. These preparation methods allow for a fresher, tastier tortilla.
Spices should be stored in a cool and dark place. Do not store your spices above the stove. The heat, steam, light and humidity that ovens and stoves omit will all cause flavor loss, and keeping your herbs and spices away from these elements will make them last much longer.
Try putting your chicken in an oiled Roasting Pan, instead of on a rack. Slice some thick pieces of onion and put them in the pan under the chicken, so that they will absorb the juice from it. After the roasting, add some stock or water to the pan with the onions to make a sauce while the chicken rests. Cook it for three minutes at high heat on your stove-top.
When it comes to cooking, be sure that you never leave anything unattended. This is important for the safety of you and everybody around you and deals with oven cooking, to stove top, to cooking on the grill. Grease can flame up easily and can cause a traumatic fire.
Pan roast your chicken pieces. Chicken breasts benefit from pan roasting. Heat oil in an oven-safe Saute Pan until it is very hot. Place the chicken in, skin side down, and immediately shake the pan when you hear the chicken start to crackle. When it is golden brown on one side, brown the other. Place the entire pan in a 375 degree oven, and cook uncovered for 15 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees. Remove the chicken from the pan, and place it back on the stove top. Add chopped shallots to the pan juices, and fry until golden. Deglaze the pan with red wine. Stir in 1 tablespoon of butter, and cook for a minute or two. Pour over the chicken and enjoy!
Add a roll of sausage to your cabbage for a particularly tasty meal. Cut up a cabbage into bite sized pieces, cover with water, and put it on the stove to boil. While your cabbage is boiling brown some sausage in a skillet. Drain off the excess grease then pour the sausage into your cabbage. Cook until the cabbage is tender.
