THIS IS SMALL, ROUND, LOOKS LIKE A BALL, BUT ACTUALLY IS A BASE OF THE MOTION OF BEARINGS WIDELY USED IN MECHANICAL, NOW ALSO IN CIVIL, ELECTRICAL AND SPACE APPLICATIONS.

These bearings which were earlier only formed of steel, brass are now become trendy too.

With the influx of latest and advance technology our new engineering boon is ceramic balls. Now the question comes on the need of the invention of ceramic balls.

Reasons for giving ceramic balls special preference:-

Ceramic balls got extreme abrasion and corrosion resistance. Their low coefficient of thermal expansion have extended their utility in the bearings, as with the increase of heat they resist bearing friction, as they absorbs less heat therefore saves the cost of coolant which is normally required otherwise.

Not only is this light weight of ceramic balls in comparison to steel balls help them in getting comparatively low centrifugal force which is inverse to result high speed while rotation.

Ceramic bearings got one more advantage over steel balls of being chemically non reactive, which makes them suitable to be used in tough conditions safely.

Unlike steel balls these bearings are also safe as they act as an insulator against electric charge.

Ceramic balls have fewer tendencies to change in shape while heat generation at high speed motion hence resists friction with their rolling contacts.

Unlike steel balls ceramic balls are non magnetic, this is double advantage for any kind of application.

Ceramic balls are harder to steel balls which ensure their comparative long life.

As a result of light weight they have another advantage on being economic for exports.

i don't know if non-stick pans change the flavor of food or not, but another thing to consider is caring for a non-stick pan. you have to be really careful not to scratch it and can't use metal utensils on it. a normal pan can withstand this kind of wear and tear, and holds on to bits of food that make pan sauces and soups so flavorful. just another couple things to consider, i hope this helps you.
