How To Make Large Plant Pots On Your Own
Large plant pots are actually very easy to make. If you have a basic idea about their shapes and sizes, and if you can obtain the right material for making them, for example clay, wood, steel, ceramic and others, you can make large plant pots sitting at home.
Large plant pots are available in a large variety of colours, textures, shapes and sizes. They can be made of a variety of materials starting from metal and clay to ceramic or even wood in some cases. The first thing that one needs to do whilst making large plant pots is to select what material to use. One should be judicious whilst selecting the material and should keep in mind various other technical things involved in the procedure, especially those about the limitations of these materials and if they create favourable conditions to the growth of plants. For example, wooden pots can be used for trees, preferably cacti that require very little supply of water. Pots made of Stainless Steel are durable but they should have inbuilt systems for draining out water. In fact, unlike earthen pots that are able to dissipate heat and vapour through the minute perforations in their bodies, the solid steel walls are unable to do the same.
Some techniques for making large plant pots
After you have selected what material to be used in making large plant pots, you can start designing the pots. Focus on its shape and size. The size should be determined by the type of plant you are going to keep in the pot. The same should apply to the shape. Just keep the following tips in mind whilst selecting a design for the pots.
- If you want to plant trees that spread sideways and grow tall at the same time, the large plant pots should be both wide and deep.
- The trees that do not have a great height but have a horisontal growth can grow well in less deep but adequately wide pots.
- Trees with hardly any sideways growth of spread-out branches, but with a good vertical growth rate, will require pots that are deep.
Next, you have to get hold of the basic instruments like the potter's wheel or the shaping tools. If you are planning to make Steel Pots, then get a drilling machine and nuts with which you will join flat boards of steel together. However, unless you are extremely keen on doing it, it is good not to waste your time by making large plant pots when they are readily available in the market. Especially it gets really messy when one makes pots with clay. Making ceramic pots at home is also bit of a trouble. You need a furnace that can heat up the ceramic at a very high temperature and also you have to mould the pots properly. Unless you are an expert in moulding clay or ceramic pots, this exercise might turn into a misadventure. The best thing that you can do is after buying the basic large plant pots, apply your creativity to deck them up with motifs and mosaic patterns.

What is the best way to clean a stainless steel pot?
The inside of the pot has black burn marks on it.
Tip #1: The new "Power Dissolver" by Dawn works quite well.
Tip #2: Try Barkeeper's Friend. It works very well on stainless steel. Sprinkle the powder on a wet scrubbing pad, let it sit for a bit and then scrub off. The cleanser also works well on porcelain sinks and tile counter tops.
Tip #3: Try using a dryer sheet with some water in the pan.
Tip #4: Spray the dry pan with the new Dawn Power cleaner. Put the pan in a plastic bag and seal with twist tie. Let sit overnight. Most of the burned on part will rinse off, then use SOS or scrubby to finish the job.
Tip #5: Try mixing cream of tartar, baking soda and vinegar and then adding just enough water to cover the mess and boiling it?
BTW... Do *NOT* use baking soda with an aluminum pan.
