How Do You Eat Your Ice Cream?
Ice cream and products are some of the most popular foods for summer. Honestly, what tastes better on a hot summer's day than cold, creamy, sweet ice cream? It's great not only to stave off the heat, but to perk up a dreary day or a sagging mood. It's practically impossible not to be happy with a big bowl of dessert in front of you.
There are many ways to enjoy your summery delights, limited only by the imagination. Get a myriad of different flavours, with hundreds of possible toppings. Add the options of eating it out of a bowl, from a cone, or on a stick, and the possibilities become endless. Which choices are most popular? Here are five of the top ways to eat ice cream.
1. Plain. This will always be the preferred option. No adulterating the flavour of a high-quality vanilla bean or rich, dark chocolate scoop with a cone or superfluous toppings. Better yet, savour a premium brand like Streets Magnum, Haagen-Daaz or Ben & Jerry's.
2. In a sundae. Bring on the toppings! A sundae with two or more different flavours, hot fudge, caramel or strawberry sauce, sliced fruit, nuts, whipped cream and a cherry is the epitome of ice cream experience for many. For the ultimate sundae experience, go for the ever popular banana split.
3. Bars or other moulded treats. On a stick or in a paper wrapping, bars and treats like Paddle pop, Drumsticks, or a Magnum Classic can get you through those hot afternoons. Classics like cold cream sandwiches are always a popular choice, as well.
4. On a cone. Visit your local corner store for one or more flavourful scoops in a cake cone or a sugar cone. Or pick up some Cornetto frozen cones to combine your dessert craving with your toppings and frozen treat cravings.
5. With friends… Probably the best way to eat ice cream is with your friends. Don't go to the shop by yourself--give your mates a call and share the summer frozen treat experience. You can each try something different and share around the table, or all dig into one monster sundae. Either way, nothing makes desserts better than someone to enjoy it with.

Ice Cream Sundae Recipe?
When I was growing up back in the 60's, we had a little ice cream stand that had the best walnut sundaes. It was scooped vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream with walnut pieces on top. I don't know what the syrup was used on it. It was maple flavored, but was this a special syrup, or would this be a syrup like we use on pancakes? If it is, I believe it would be a good maple syrup brand. The syrup was warm, and it was sooooo good. Anyone that grew up back when these sundaes were popular that might have some input?

Maple-Walnut Syrup
For Thomas Padden, Greensburg, who wanted a recipe for walnut ice cream topping based on corn syrup or honey. From Mitz Kelly, Scottdale, who writes, "In my teenage years, I worked in a local drugstore that had a soda fountain. A maple walnut sundae was on our menu and was a favorite of mine -- and still is, 60-some years later. This recipe is as close to the walnut syrup that we served; I make it for myself and gift-giving."
* 1 1/2 cups corn syrup
* 1 cup pure maple syrup
* 1/2 granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup water
* 2 cups walnut pieces
In a saucepan, combine the corn syrup, maple syrup, sugar and water and place it over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
