Table Lamps for the Classic Interior

A particularly elegant pair of late 19th century, Chinese export, papier mache, Mei P’ing shaped table lamps, the slender lamps in imitation of patinated, gilded bronze. The vase shapes very delicately decorated with faded, gilded willows overhanging a village scene. In the foreground, painted in miniature, is an amusing subject of two boys at play with a ball. Although diminutive, the children are reproduced with a very fine sense of movement. The lamps on original black lacquered bases.

Maurice Robertson, principal of The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co , has had a lifetime’s association with antique porcelain and pottery. From an early age he recalls picking up Tea Cups, looking for the mark on the base, discerning the maker.

When setting a table in Germany, do the fork go on the left of the plate, and the knife on the right?

Hi! There's actually a way of remembering this that we are taught in Germany: MesseR nach Rechts, GabeL nach Links.
No idea about the knife edge, sorry. And spoons go at the top of the plate, and that's true for both the Soup Spoon and the dessert spoon.
