Vintage posters are mainly artistic works, mostly replicating original paintings/ photographs. Posters are reproduced on huge papers for posting in public places for doing propaganda/advertising. Vintage posters had been created through lithography or serigraph techniques and multitudes of people amass them. Some people like poster subjects, few are interested in artistic style and some choose for specific color scheme. Its price is determined by poster condition, artist, rarity and image.
Vintage collection became famous towards end of 1800. Normally, many posters available are beyond 50 years old. They are extremely valuable and have high market demand. Vintage Poster Preservation
Preserving a vintage poster depends on its mode of use – whether to frame it to show-off or simply to store it securely in flat, acid-free sleeves or rolled up in acid-free tubes to save space. They must not be stacked cavernously without placing them in shrink-wrap plastic. If posters are preserved in frames, avoid light through utilizing Plexiglas or else UV-resistant glass to prevent destruction from sunlight and even fluorescent lights. There must be space for molding to prevent glass and poster sticking together. If posters are very rare they must be backed with linen.

Vintage posters are great to decorate walls to give an arty touch or a romantic/historic atmosphere to rooms by having them as focal points. They are kept in most rooms like living room, bedroom, kitchen, study or family room. They are also placed in notable spots in lobbies, showrooms, conferences, restaurants and hotels to create a pleasant atmosphere and improve settings. They are seen in vantage points in movies and television shows. During film releases, posters were distributed to grab attention of cine-goers.
There are abundant vintage posters depicting political, travel, art, music, movies, sports and food and liquor topics by many European artists. Vintage posters are found generally in art galleries, museums auctions and at poster exhibitions. They can be bought online as well. Where can I find vintage glass bottles to use for my wedding?
Hey all,
I plan on having a 1940’s theme wedding next fall. I really want coke bottles, champagne bottles, wine bottles, etc. from that era that I can use for my center pieces. I plan to use them as flower vases. Does anyone know of a website or a store (I live in the Philadelphia area) that I can find some? It’s ok if they’re not from the 40’s so long as they have that vintage look.

You can most likely find some in antique stores. And I'm sure there's some on eBay. Keep an eye on your local Craigs List too, you never know.

Glass lamp shades are found in a dazzling combination of looks, sizes, and hues, just as glass is infinitely malleable in the care of an experienced artisan. During pre-Christian times and likely before, artisans were indulging in the tradition of making useful and even ornate glasswork. In more recent periods, as gas and light bulbs spread throughout civilization during the industrial ages, glass lamp shades correspondingly entered the homes.
Both household lighting and the rarefied world of art have therefore integrated glass lamp shades. Due to the singular qualities of glass, shaping glass is unlike any other art form. Characterized by molecular disorder, it is a mixed material. That suggests even in its solid state, the atoms of the material don't pack themselves regularly, as they do in crystals or ice. Upon heating, the material doesn't undergo a transition from a solid to liquid.
Instead, it becomes soft, flows and deforms under pressure. A lump of melted vitreous substance is the starting point for the talented craftsman. He uses a long, hollowed out metal rod called a blow pipe to move the material. By alternately blowing into the softened material and smoothing it on a metal surface with the rod, he can shape the glass into a cylindrical shape.
More metal tools adjust the finer features of the glass, such as flaring of the edge of the glass lamp shade. Glass lamp shades also typically colored. Louis Comfort Tiffany, the well-known interior decorator, was famous for creating stained glass lamp shades. Tiffany joined metal rods and fragments of colored glass to generate fantastic art reflecting a dazzling combination of light, objects and scenes from nature by calling upon a tradition of stained glass art. For the craftsmen, adding color to the glass is an important piece of the art. Because of the effect of metal oxide contaminants, the glass may begin by being tinted. The craftsman may also add coloring to the glass through a number of ways. To give rise to a dual layer effect, small piece of tinted glass can be softened over Clear Glass. To create novel patterns, very small ground grains of tinted glass may be melted into clear glass. A glass liquid mixture is applied to draw designs on the glass directly, in another method known as enameling.
To harden the liquid mixture, the decorated piece is then heated up in the kiln. As dazzling and fashionable as their forerunners, contemporary glass lamp shades can be now seen in households everywhere. Antique shades might be pricey and difficult to locate. In terms of quantity and also cost, store glass lamp shades are more accessible. Instead of an appliance, the acquisition of a vintage glass lamp shade may be thought of as an asset.
